- "Who made the findings?" You did. The tool cannot state a finding, choose evidence, or cite anything you did not upload.

What the AI does, and what it is not allowed to do
Most AI writing tools are built to be helpful. This one is built to be checkable. The limits are the product.

Where your file goes
Investigation files are sensitive. Here is exactly what happens to yours, in plain language. The full version is in the privacy policy.
- Stored in Canada. Your documents and reports are stored on Microsoft Azure in the Canada Central region.
- Never used to train AI. Neither we nor Microsoft use your content to train or improve any model. We may build de-identified practice cases from the shape of a real investigation, with every identifying detail removed.
- Processed by Azure OpenAI, not a consumer chatbot. To use the strongest model Microsoft offers, drafting requests may be processed in Azure regions outside Canada. Your stored files stay in Canada Central. Microsoft may retain prompts and outputs for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, after which they are deleted. We do not claim zero retention, because that would not be true.
- Deleted when you say so. Delete a report and its documents go with it. Close your account and everything is removed.
- Seen only by you. Your reports and documents are visible only to your account. Our staff can see how the tool is used and the prompts it sends, which is how we support you and improve the drafting, and we open a document itself only when you ask for help or grant access. We do not disclose the confidential information in your file to anyone outside Goodwin.
Who built it
This is a tool for handling other people’s worst week at work. You should know whose judgement is behind it.
Goodwin Investigations Inc. is a workplace investigation firm in Calgary. We investigate harassment, bullying, and misconduct files for Canadian employers, and we wrote the report standards this tool drafts to.
Our director is a lawyer by training, a licensed investigator, and trained through Rubin Thomlinson. The structure Agent Goodwin follows, how allegations are framed, how evidence is weighed, and what procedural fairness requires, is the standard we hold our own files to.
We built it for our own investigators first, and we use it on our own files. That is also why the AI never chooses the evidence and never states a finding: we would not accept that in a report with our name on it.

Is this legal advice?
No. Agent Goodwin drafts from your file and your selections. It does not interpret the law, and it is not a substitute for counsel. Your professional judgement and obligations stay with you.
Which jurisdictions does it cover?
It is built for Canadian workplace investigations and works from the policies and documents you upload, not from a database of law. That is deliberate: it cannot cite the wrong statute because it does not cite statutes at all.
Does it work on big files?
Yes. Files with hundreds of pages of transcripts and emails are normal. The tool indexes every page so you can search and cite by page number.
Can my colleagues use it?
